Legacy Burdens

Legacy Burdens and the Stories We Hold

Bonnie Weiss

Legacy Burdens are beliefs, feelings and emotions that are handed down through the family line either directly or indirectly. These beliefs turn into burdens if tied to shame or feelings of deficiency. Sometimes legacy burdens only go back a generation or two, but others can go far back, even hundreds of years. The stories we hold about ourselves and our families are impacted by these burdens. We will explore the relationship between these two phenomena.

Each class will have a meditation, discussion, teaching and demo.

Class 1 Legacy Heirlooms: What are the traits that I have inherited from my birth family that I value?

Class 2 Shaped Burdens: What did I learn from my experience in my family that has shaped who I have become? Things that were reinforced and supported. Things that were not mirrored or discouraged. How has that impacted my sense of myself and my experience of the world?

Class 3 Legacy Burdens: What are the legacy burdens that have been passed down through the generations that have impacted by my sense of self and my experience of the world?

Class 4 Our Stories: How do the stories we hold influence our sense of self? How do our legacy stories influence us?

Class 5 Your Legacy: What is the legacy you want to leave? How can you support the development of that legacy?
